Environmental Permit

Energy generation facility, Oldbury

Energy generation facility, Oldbury

In 2011 we secured planning consent for a 250,000 tonnes / year recycling and energy generation facility in Oldbury, near Birmingham, on behalf of Innovative Environmental Solutions, a joint venture between European Metal Recycling and Chinook Sciences. The development is the first of its kind and will process automative shredder (ASR) residue to recover additional metals, plastics and aggregates with some 160,000 tonnes being used to generate electricity; currently all ASR is landfilled. Construction is well underway and we have recently submitted an Environmental Permit application for the energy generation part of the development.
